Short Cuts, the new record of the duo Brain Damage, is coming out.

A new production from this famous French band is always an event. And more, when we know all the musical experimentations can do Martin and Raf,
the musicians and producers of Brain Damage.

Brain Damage - Short Cuts

Again, the surprise is in this rendezvous: Short Cuts is a totally concept album. He is like a human live. With lot of meetings and a time which goes always more and more faster. In end, the live is short like are the tracks of this album. Actually, the record is composed of 24 very short tracks: The longest of all has a little more of 2 minutes lenght. So, the band need to build fast, very fast, every song. As a reflection of the Society where everything must go faster. Where the songs need a standardized format for radio stations or music television, should not be too shocking ratings between 2 advertisements.

Despite this race against time, the album is primarily a multitude of meetings. At the same time, a musical journey. Once again, lot of vocalists are present in this record like the last Brain Damage’s production. 12 singers lend their voices to the album with so many different languages. A “spoken-voice connection” in some way. The voices come from a rap flow to an opera singer and pass through the Balkans.

Musically, Brain Damage doesn’t play dub anymore but… Brain Damage. The sound is unique. Some bass lines remind us that Brain Damage is a dub band at the beginning. Also some effects. But on the whole, the music has exceeded new frontiers. Discovery of new land hitherto unexplored.
So, a good album on the whole: The result is awesome and consistent.
