improvisators dub meets iration steppas

By Laurent C. on Monday November 10, 2008, 15:21 - dub-albums

This is the album event of this autumn 2008, the meeting of two seminal actors of European dub stepper scene: the association between the French live band Improvisators Dub and the British sound system Iration Steppas for a phenomenal record called "inna steppa dub".
The idea of this album is the result of a commons concert live between the bands the spring of the year 2007 in France. In view of the success of this live performance, they decide to produce this record. About one and half year after, this one is finally available.

It's not the first try for the French band this kind of collaborations. The musicians of Improvisators Dub have already realized an album with The Disciples ("Dub and Mixture" in the year 2000) and an other with High Tone ("Highvisators" in 2004). In the side of Iration Steppas, despite some series of remixes version of Vibronics or The Rootsman, is the first experience four the sound system of Mark Iration in the domain.
In final, "inna steppa dub" is a good musical success. And the name doesn't fool us. We are actually confronted with a very great and powerfull dub stepper and it's so good. The dub steppa lovers can't be disappointed so the production is fully energetic and dynamic. It makes the listeners want to wake-up and dance.

By Laurent C. on Friday November 7, 2008, 19:27 - dub-albums

Ragana- So Many Reverbs to CrossRagana is a new dub project from Poland. This autumn, the band proposes its first album nammed "So Many Reverbs to Cross" available on the label polish Karrot Kommando and co-produced by Universal Egg, the Zion Train's label.

The sound presents in this album is a kind of dub which want to be old school, more analogue that electronic, with a heavy bass, guitar skank and some great effects. All what we need in dub music. The influence of the music is close of the British dub of the 80's.
Ragana & Jahga Also, it is very close of the reggae music in one way. Actually, every tracks are sung. And, oh! What a magnificent voice. The female singer of Ragana, Jahga, puts down a quiet and nice flow on the music. A flow slow and melodic. In the same time melancholy and sensual.

In end, on the album the bras section of Crispy Horns, which a for habit to play with Zion Train or Love Grocer, appears in featuring.

So, dub music like we didn't hear from longtime. A interesting and very good album for the long winter night that we can listen in loop without any boredom.

A maxi we forgot to tell about and available since this month of October 2008 on the netlabel Al Dente Records, Tsunami Wazahari's label: Dub Territories by the producer Sushidread.
In this EP composed of 5 tracks, the first one for the French producer, Sushidread proposes a travel around Asia, from China to Japan through the Gulf of Tonkin, by some tones from this continent. All supported by a heavy steppas rhythmic.
